Under the direction of the Talent & Culture Director, the Talent & Culture (T&C) Coordinator advises and assists management and staff on employee issues and concerns through communicating and administering human resource services, programs, policies, and procedures provided by National Lutheran Communities & Services (NLCS).  The focus of this position is one of support, and is vital to the NLCS T&C team. Some responsibilities include:

  • Maintains T&C departmental records and files, employee records, and benefits files. Tracks key metrics as required
  • In partnership with hiring managers, supports the recruitment life cycle, to include but not limited to sourcing, screening, checking references, verifying licensures, and onboarding qualified candidates based on business needs and requests
  • Facilitates and leads Ignite, NLCS’ new employee orientation program communicating NLCS policies and procedures, benefit information and the NLCS We CARE culture
  • Manages the T&C HRIS system
  • Completes and processes employee termination documentation
  • Administers worker’s compensation process and the Family and Medical Leave (FMLA) process
  • In collaboration with T&C Director, provides assistance, and follow-up on NLCS policies, procedures and documentation
  • Assists employees in benefits related issues
  • Provide guidance and assistance to job applicants in the navigation of web-based job application
  • Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with staff, leadership, visitors and customers
  • Participates in creating a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, productivity, mentoring and cooperation
  • Cooperates with other team members to achieve department objectives and maintain good employee and interdepartmental relations


  • Associate or higher degree in Human Resources preferred. Human Resources Certification is a plus
  • Two years of experience providing professional and/or administrative support on a department or organization-wide level required; preferably in a health care environment
  • Two years’ experience providing professional and/or administrative support of a Human Resources function is a plus
  • Demonstrated experience in partnering with a diverse team of employees, managers and supervisors
  • Must possess strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of T&C information
  • Visibility requires maintaining a professional appearance and providing a positive company image
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Proficient in writing and sending emails
  • Comfortable learning and using new technology
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Works well independently or as part of a team
  • Follows direction, has good logic and has excellent critical thinking skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Fast learner and dependable
  • Multitask oriented
